Lavender Cupcakes with Lemon Buttercream

I made these yummy cupcakes for a work meeting. We were having a coffee tasting and I wanted to make sure that I had something to eat during that tasting. I chose these specific flavors because of what paired well with the coffee we were tasting. Turns out they were perfect! I used this recipe for the cupcakes and this recipe for the lemon buttercream. I ended up making two dozen regular-sized cupcakes and baked them for around 22 minutes.

The lemon buttercream was the best I've ever had. It was SO GOOD! The lavender cupcakes were great, too. They definitely had a unique floral taste that paired well with the citrus icing. The cupcakes were perfectly fluffy and moist. Mmm.

  1. YUM!!! Just planted some lavender in one of my garden beds...can I use it right from there?

  2. Hm, I think so but am not entirely sure (I bought my lavender from a health foods store). I think you can use the flowers and just chop them up a bit first. Let me know if you try this out!
